Illustration of a so-called patent-troll (a company that buys patents to gain profit). Patent trials are often held in the state of Texas, because the jurisdiction is more flexible there regarding this subject matter.
The briefing for this VPRO TV guide cover illustration was simple: "We want you to draw something incorporating books and music". This picture is what I came up with. It Illustrates the recently held Crossing Border Festival in the Hague, a festival that explores the boundaries between literature and music. So there you go..

I feel like I am one of those 18th century -or when was that- illustrators, who had to draw far away countries and wild animals they had never seen themselves. Would the people from JavaherDeh recognize their village? I try to give the NRC readers a halfway informative image of all these far away places, but whether I am giving them the right impression? All I can do is my best.
